Furious Wenger’s referee rage
James Olley18 Sep 2008
Arsene Wenger today launched a scathing attack on referee Luis Medina Cantelejo for failing to protect winger Theo Walcott from being “destroyed” and not playing enough injury time in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kiev.
Captain William Gallas salvaged a point for the Gunners with a late equaliser but despite the fourth official then indicating three minutes of added time would be played, barely 30 seconds passed before the game ended.
Wenger remonstrated with the Spanish official at the end. The Arsenal boss said: “Every referee looks to have a different computer to calculate injury time and I still don't know how it works. He just told me he felt it was enough.”
Wenger was also angry with Cantelejo's decision only to book Andriy Nesmachniy despite a series of challenges on Walcott. He added: “The referee should have sent off the left-back three times – he tried to destroy Walcott.”

Arsene Whinger sounds like a spoilt teenager when he comes out with rubbish like this. I remember when football was a man's game.

I can understand Arsene Wengers frustration fully. The referee was truly awful, awarding a penalty when the Kiev player blatantly dived, failing to book the Russian left back more than once was a mystery to me. In any event I think it will be proved to be a good point won.
