Jones puts Kent push on track
Evening Standard 18 Sep 2008Former England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones got Kent's title hopes back on track with a blistering innings of 91 at Liverpool.
Jones faced only 88 balls but he hit 16 boundaries and scored more runs than the 11 Lancashire batsmen put together. The home side's total of 103, which included 32 extras and a top score of 30 from Steve Croft, was their lowest for three years and leaves them in danger of being relegated.
Kent, who went into the second day 40 ahead with five wickets standing, are fifth in the table but have closed the gap on leaders Hampshire to only 10 points.
