Britain get Ukraine in Davis Cup

Hopes that Andy Murray will lead Great Britain against Ukraine in the Davis Cup next year were boosted after the tie was scheduled for March.

After today's draw it was initially thought the Euro/Africa Group One contest would be in Britain in early May, which would have clashed with Murray's clay court preparations for the French Open.

However, the International Tennis Federation have moved it to 6-8 March as the schedule for players is lighter then.

John Lloyd has a major job to convince Murray to play for the team after their relegation from the World Group and will do all he can to accommodate his star man.

The captain said: "We will have to hold the tie indoors with Andy having a big say in the surface. We are desperate for him to play."

Ukraine's top two are Sergiy Stakhovsky and Sergei Bubka, ranked 83rd and 285th in the world respectively.

"This is definitely a match we are capable of winning," said Lloyd.

"Stakhovsky is a good young player who is on the up but I think it is a good draw for us."
