Questions: Lance Armstrong plans to make his comeback in January

Anti-drugs chief hits out at Armstrong

Dick Pound, former head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, is not impressed by Lance Armstrong's return to competitive cycling.

Armstrong, seven-times winner of the Tour de France, plans to make his comeback in January but the doping allegations that have clouded the 37-year-old American's career will not go away.

"If he thinks coming back now will erase all the questions marks, he is mistaken," said Pound.

"His comeback raises at least as many questions as it answers."

Armstrong was cleared of any doping violations after it was reported that six urine samples provided during the 1999 Tour showed traces of erythropoietin when tested retrospectively.

"All the samples tested were clear," insisted Armstrong.
