Rivals in road rage over safety car rule

Evening Standard   30 Sep 2008

Formula One rivals Ferrari and McLaren have attacked the safety car rule that decided last weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

Martin Whitmarch, Lewis Hamilton's boss at McLaren, said: "I am sure they will change it by the start of next year. They got it hopelessly wrong."

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said: "When we race on tracks where staging a circus would be better, anything can happen. It is humiliating for F1."

Ferrari did not score a point after Felipe Massa's terrible pit stop and Kimi Raikkonen's crash three laps from the end.

Humiliating for F1?! Singapore was one of the most interesting races in years. Quit whinging Luca and start working.

Sour grapes. Straight and simple, they lost and that is the bottom line. Alonso made a historical comeback from 15 to 1. Both Ferrari cars could not make the leap back in 61 rounds. Blame no one for pulling the fuel hose
