Roy Hodgson today admitted Fulham's away record is worrying after the club slumped to one place above the Premier League drop zone.

A 1-0 defeat at West Brom on Saturday means Fulham have lost all three fixtures played outside Craven Cottage so far, giving them the worst away record in the league.

The Fulham manager said: “Our away form does continue to be a concern, but it's not easy to win away from home in this league. If we continue to play like we're playing the results will come.

“Unfortunately, you've got to go through the disappointing moments until the tide turns for you.

“I would be happy to some extent if I could have criticised the team's performance and found a lot of fault with them. But quite honestly I can't. They did pretty well and, on odd occasions, very well.”

Hodgson believes that the absence through suspension of star summer signing Andy Johnson was a factor in the Hawthorns reverse, which was sealed by Roman Bednar's 61st-minute strike. He said: “We did miss Andy with so much possession in and around the penalty area, where a player like him would have been useful for us.

“So our run of poor form away from home continues, but I'd venture to say our run of bad luck away from home continues as well.

“Because in each of the three away defeats, speaking to the opposing managers after each game, they all believed we were probably good enough to get at least a point.”
