Sachin Tendulkar has to be patient

17.10.08

Sachin Tendulkar was kept waiting in Mohali today for his chance to become the top run scorer in Test cricket history.

Tendulkar, 14 short of Brian Lara's world record of 11,953, watched with his pads on as India reached 104 for one by lunch on the first morning of the Second Test against Australia.

Left-handed opener Gautem Gambhir was unbeaten on 53. Australia's only success was Mitchell Johnson's dismissal of Virender Sehwag for 35.

Injury ruled out skipper Anil Kumble on his 38th birthday and wicketkeeper Mahendra Dhoni took charge for only the second time. The First Test was drawn.
