Contract hope: Richard Lee

Lee's deal hope

21 Oct 2008

Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee is hoping his double penalty save against Southampton will earn him a new contract at the club.

With Scott Loach and Mart Poom both injured, Watford's third-choice keeper will line up against Cardiff tonight.

Lee, 26 said: "This chance to play came out of the blue and I had to make the most of it. Hopefully I'll now get a run in the team. It's a big season for me because I'm in the last year of my contract."

Watford could recall striker Grzegorz Rasiak and winger Jobi McAnuff but defender Jay DeMerit is again doubtful with his hamstring problem.

Richard Lee mase two penalty saves as we all know. That alone does not warrant a new contract!
I hope he goes on to play well until Poom and Loach are fit again, but he is still only an average goalkeeper for this division and personally I do not believe he should be offered a new contract and is still the 3rd choice keeper
