It would take the most clairvoyant of punters, but anyone who staked £10 on Hull City to complete a grand slam of victories over the capital's Premier League clubs would now be sweating on a payout of £36,720.

The Tigers' four unlikely wins over Fulham, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham equate to an accumulator of 488/1, and three points against Chelsea tonight would see those odds dramatically inflate.

David Williams, of Ladbrokes, said: "Surely even the most passionate Hull punters couldn't have foreseen that the capital would provide such a plentiful harvest of points".

But Hull manager Phil Brown is unfazed by the prospect of confounding the bookmakers once again.

His side won promotion from the Championship via the play-offs last season and yet they go into tonight's match at the KC Stadium only trailing Chelsea's millionaires in the top flight on goal difference.

Even though the Blues comfortably beat Hull 4-0 in the Carling Cup third round last season, Brown is convinced it will be a different story this time with Luiz Felipe Scolari's men vulnerable after losing their unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge to Liverpool on Sunday.

He said: "I don't know what their changing room is like, I don't know what the mentality is like, but you would expect them to be hurt after Sunday.

"When the fixture list first came out maybe there was a bit of fear about playing them, but we're now full of confidence and we're looking forward to it.

"That is key to our game plan. If you play Chelsea not feeling confident then you are going to struggle.

"But the difference between the Hull side that played them a year ago and the one now is vast, and that will stand us in good stead.

"We have learnt a great deal since then and brought in a lot of new players with Premier League experience. They've all done well"

Pick of the new arrivals has been Brazil international Geovanni, who has scored four goals since joining from Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer, though former Brentford defender Michael Turner has also made a huge impact with his displays at the back and some vital goals from set-pieces.

Brown added: "I'm not pinching myself about the start we've made, it's a case of believing.

"From the moment we won the first game of the season against Fulham, the belief has strengthened.

"We didn't know we could win games at this level, but then we did having been a goal behind.

"Since then, we have won at big venues like the Emirates and White Hart Lane and now people expect us to win games.

"I've been fortunate in that I have been able to name the same team for the last three or four games and that has provided us with more fluency.

"The beauty is we are coming into this match with four straight wins and three clean sheets. Chelsea will have a lot more possession than us, but so did West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham and we won those games. We're organised and we try to get in the faces of the opposition."

For their part, Chelsea are desperate to get straight back to winning ways and make it a happy anniversary for Terry, who is celebrating 10 years since making his professional debut for the club against Aston Villa.

He said: "I hope I have shown my character in the 10 years and want to give a lot more to the club.

"I'm so proud to be Chelsea captain and to see how far the club have come in such a short amount of time.

"Hopefully I will put a few more trophies on the table."

Hull left-back Andy Dawson could play despite going off with a dead leg just 10 minutes into Saturday's 3-0 win at West Brom.

For Chelsea, Joe Cole is back in the squad after a foot injury but Didier Drogba (knee), Michael Ballack (foot) and Michael Essien (knee) are all still out.
