Tim Sherwood rejoined Tottenham today after being appointed coach by Harry Redknapp.

The Spurs boss, who had already recruited his former Portsmouth No2 Kevin Bond, had been keen to add the 39-year-old to his backroom staff.

Sherwood, who played for the club from 1999 until 2003 and has been working as a television pundit, has accepted a part-time role.

"I'm pleased to have the opportunity to be involved at such a great football club," he said.

Redknapp believes that his former midfielder will have a big impact at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp said: "He worked for me at Portsmouth in the 2003/04 season and he has a terrific football brain, so I'm glad I can now tap into that."

One of the most striking aspects of Redknapp's first week in charge has been the form of playmaker Luka Modric.

The Croatian had struggled under Juande Ramos but Redknapp said: "Luka is playing as well as he did in Croatia's 3-2 win over England at Wembley last year."
