Pendleton leads the way as Brits clean up on track

03.11.08

Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton has hailed the new generation of talented British women cyclists.

All eight women's events at the World Cup in Manchester were won by Britons with Pendleton, 28, and Lizzie Armistead, 19, leading the way with three golds each.

"It's so good to see so many very ambitious girls who want to be as good as the boys," said Pendleton. "They're not coming to have a play on the track, they want to win."

Overall, Britain won 15 of the 18 medals.
