Simpson's desperate for Watford buyout

Dean Jones

Chairman Graham Simpson admits Watford will not be able to buy their way out of trouble unless a takeover goes through.

Aidy Boothroyd's exit followed a disastrous run of injuries, luck - including Reading's 'ghost' goal - and poor run of form.

Simpson admits up to six potential buyers have cooled their interest in light of the credit crunch but said: "It's no secret that the club is for sale. I don't have deep pockets, and can't put any more money in, but Watford are in a very strong, sensible position. We have very little debt. We have a £3million overdraft facility and are just going in to it. Quite a few clubs in the Championship are anything between £20m and £30m in debt.

"We don't need a fortune, but it would be nice if someone had a few million to strengthen the squad."

We should try & sell Jobi McAnuuf who is on ludicrous wages for a lightweight overrated player.
