Making changes: Harry Redknapp will bring in former Tottenham forward Les Ferdinand to help train the club's strikers

Les Ferdinand joins Spurs backroom

Les Ferdinand has rejoined Tottenham as a "strikers' consultant".

The former England forward, 41, will give specialist coaching to the club's attack and his appointment comes a week after Harry Redknapp added ex-Spurs midfielder Tim Sherwood to his backroom staff.

"Les will be getting involved," said the manager. "I will speak to him about coming in and working with the strikers.

"I had a similar arrangement at Portsmouth, when Luther Blissett came in and helped the forwards during the 2003-04 season. Yakubu had been having a difficult time in front of goal but, after Luther came in, he ended up finishing the season by scoring 11 goals in 10 matches."

Redknapp will make changes for tomorrow's UEFA Cup tie against Dinamo Zagreb, with Jermaine Jenas and Ledley King likely to miss out through injury, Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko cup-tied and Jamie O'Hara suspended.

He will include John Bostock among the substitutes, which means the 16-year-old midfielder could make his debut for the club after his acrimonious move from Crystal Palace during the summer.

Bostock, who played his first game for Palace last season aged 15 years and 287 days, could cost Spurs £1.25million if he is a success at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp said: "I hope there is a chance to put him on tomorrow. I saw him for Crystal Palace and he looked a terrific young talent with a lovely left foot.

"How far John progresses in the game will be up to him."

I agree with giving Bostock his chance. We must blood our talented youngsters otherwise they will end up frustrated in the reserves. We should also bring Peckhart back from his loan spell in January, and what about Charlie Daniels?
