Stuart Broad faces a fitness test in Rajkot tomorrow to determine whether he can boost England's selection options for the opening one-day international against India on Friday.

The 22-year-old Nottinghamshire pace bowler was rested for yesterday's humiliating defeat against a Mumbai XI after complaining of a sore right knee. He has since been given an injection and will be put through his paces in a net session.

Left-armer Ryan Sidebottom has again been ruled out due to his Achilles problem and, if Broad fails to report fit, England will almost certainly field Graeme Swann and Samit Patel in a twin spin attack.

India may have pace bowling problems of their own. Ishant Sharma, who took 15 wickets and was named man of the series in the 2-0 Test victory against Australia, will miss Friday's game after being told to rest for five days to recover from an ankle injury.
