Hot streak: Yuvraj Singh celebrates his second consecutive century, which included 15 fours, against England in Indore today

Yuvraj Singh stars again for India as England slump to another one-day defeat

Yuvraj Singh continued his domination of the one-day series against England by delivering a match-winning display with bat and ball to seal another emphatic victory for India.

The talented left-hander claimed his second century in as many matches to power India to a commanding 292 for nine despite a shaky start when they slipped to 29 for three after deciding to bat first at Nehru Park.

But Yuvraj also claimed a superb four for 28 with his part-time off-spin to help secure a 54-run victory by dismissing England for 238 after they lost their last seven wickets for 55 runs in 10 overs.

It was a stunning display from Yuvraj, who is now in pole position to reclaim his Test place as a replacement for the retired Sourav Ganguly, and comes just three days after his incredible unbeaten 138 in Rajkot to secure a thumping 158-run triumph in the first one-day international.

Yet despite Yuvraj's amazing performance, the tourists were on course to claim an unlikely victory until just 12 overs before the end.

Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff had just hit 59 runs off the five overs of the batting powerplay to leave England needing 110 to win off 13 overs.

Once again, though, Yuvraj stole centre stage and dismissed both within the space of four balls - ending a productive 74-run stand off 70 deliveries - and their departure signalled England's spiral towards another comprehensive defeat.

The tourists made a dismal start to their reply with opener Bell running himself out off the sixth ball of the innings only for Matt Prior and Owais Shah to forge a 50-run stand from just 66 balls and put the run-chase back in course.

Yuvraj's introduction to work in tandem with Harbhajan Singh restored India's advantage, however, with England adding only 13 runs in the first five overs of spin until the frustration built and both batsmen departed within three overs of each other.

Flintoff regained the momentum for the tourists by hitting Harbhajan for 21 in the first over of the powerplay while RP Singh was hammered for 15 in the final over of the fielding restrictions.

But the return of Yuvraj finally signalled England's demise and leaves them facing a major battle to remain competitive in the series - particularly with the imminent return of key seamer Ishant Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar in the next few matches.

The tourists, desperate to atone for Friday's display in Rajkot, made a bright start with Stuart Broad claiming three for 14 from his five-over new ball spell.

But Yuvraj, playing in a far more composed manner than Friday, hit 15 fours and two sixes and shared an impressive 134-run stand with opener Gautam Gambhir which guided India out of trouble just as England seemed set to bounce back strongly into the series.

They were finally parted when Gambhir played on to Kevin Pietersen's off-spin after hitting a superb to reach 70 off 76 balls, leaving Yuvraj to complete back-to-back centuries.

Yuvraj became Broad's fourth victim when he edged behind with six overs remaining but all-rounder Yusuf Pathan demonstrated his attacking strokeplay to help India add 82 off the final 10 overs.

Pathan hit two fours and four sixes in his unbeaten half-century off only 29 balls, including hitting Steve Harmison for 17 in the final over of the innings.

That late onslaught on a pitch ideal for India's spin attack ensured another comprehensive defeat for the tourists as the two sides prepare to meet in Kanpur again on Thursday for their third meeting in the seven-match series.

Its time the English batting takes a cue from youngsters like Broad who bounced back so well.Such performances have to be backed by the batsmen and fielders or else its going to be still tougher going in this series for the English team.

It will be frustrating for Broad who bowled his heart out after being belted in the first game. Its time the English batting picks up or else we will be watching one sided games for the rest of the ODI series.

Good win for India, but this will do England a lot of good. All we have to do is stop Fatty Singh from scoring boundaries and make him run - he will tire quickly and make a mistake.
