Wood near to tour place after going back to school
18 Nov 2008Chris Wood closed in on a place on the European Tour with a three-under 69 in the fifth round of the qualifying school in Spain.
The 20-year-old from Bristol was on 11-under going into today's closing round, sharing sixth place seven shots behind Sweden's Oskar Henningsson. The top 30 will win Tour cards.
Wood turned professional after finishing fifth in the Open at Birkdale but hadn't won enough prize money to avoid going to the school.
