Pain game: Theo Walcott will be out for three months

Wenger without Walcott for three months

Evening Standard   20 Nov 2008

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott will be sidelined for at least three months after dislocating his shoulder.

The 19-year-old forward will have surgery in the next few days after he was injured in Berlin on Tuesday during England's training session ahead of their friendly with Germany.

Commentating last night on France v Uruguay for French TV channel TF1, Wenger said: “Theo dislocated his shoulder during training, he will be out for at least three months.”

Walcott was taken to hospital in agony after a freak fall in the rain at the Olympic Stadium.
Although his shoulder was quickly put back in place, the player was in understandable discomfort when he returned to England's hotel, where it was decided he should return home on the day of the match.

“We are all very disappointed but the important thing is for Theo to make a quick recovery,” said England manager Fabio Capello.

This is Walcott's fourth serious shoulder problem since he joined Arsenal and it's the second time he has required surgery.
