Long gone: Juande Ramos

Sacked Ramos agrees a clean break

Axed Spurs boss Juande Ramos finally severed his connections with Tottenham yesterday after agreeing a pay-off and then said he would relish a chance to manage another team in the Premier League.

Spurs agreed to pay an undisclosed sum for the remaining two and a half years of his contract while also settling the compensation claimed by Seville when their manager left for White Hart Lane in October 2007. All the staff Ramos brought with him at the time have also been paid off.

After tying up the loose ends yesterday, Ramos said his time at Spurs was an "unforgettable experience" but one that ended in frustration and failure.

He said: "In the first few months we managed to win a title, the Carling Cup. Spurs had not won any in a long time and I honestly thought, at that stage, it was going to be the first in a line of successes at the club.

"I would have liked to spend more time at the club, but I understand what has happened is the unwritten law in football.

"Being in the Premier League was a dream come true, a fantasy I had since I started as a manager. Given the right chance I would love to be back."

Ramos will return to Madrid and wait for the right offer to come along as his agent, who says they have already turned down three jobs - one of which is believed to have been at QPR - looks for a suitable club.
