Kenny Jackett is working hard on his maths

May is six months away but Millwall boss Kenny Jackett is already trying to work out how many points Millwall will need to win promotion from League One.

Jackett saw his side extend their unbeaten home run to four games when Tresor Kandol scored in stoppage time to beat Carlisle 1-0.

The three points lifted Millwall up to third place but Jackett said: "Most of the top sides in this division seem to be winning every week.

"While it's nice and encouraging, especially for the fans, to be in a good position, I tend to look at points totals. You usually need about 75 to get in the play-offs but it could be more this season. For the top two it is usually about 80 to 90 points."

Leyton Orient were also the benefactors of a 1-0 win away at Huddersfield. Adam Boyd scored after 65 seconds when he raced on to Sean Thornton's pass.

Manager Martin Ling said: "It was the perfect start. We had a long journey up, so the early goal was a great fillip. It gave the players a boost and something to hold on to.

"I didn't expect it to be as desperate as it was, but I've got to take my hat off to them in terms of character and determination."

Dagenham were denied a deserved point at Shrewsbury in League Two when Grant Holt converted a penalty in injury time to give the home side a 2-1 win.

Shrewsbury took the lead five minutes into the second half through Jamie White. Sam Saunders equalised with a 25-yard free-kick but Holt then produced his late killer blow.

Nathan Elder's sixth goal of the season kept sixth-placed Brentford on track for a promotion challenge with a 1-0 win over Luton. Elder headed in from close range after 29 minutes following good work from on-loan strike partner Dean Bowditch.

Barnet were unable to make a breakthrough at Port Vale but in light of their recent poor results they were happy with their point from a goalless draw. Striker John O'Flynn had their best chance but fired over the bar.
