Shay Given has ruled himself out of a move to Tottenham by claiming he does not want to leave Newcastle United.

The Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper has been mooted as a potential transfer target for Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp in the January transfer window.

Current Spurs 'keeper Heurelho Gomes has struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League and could be in line for the axe after a number of high-profile errors.

However, Given, 32, does not want to uproot his family from the North East and move to London.

Given said: "Tottenham have spent money on a goalkeeper already, so I don't think they're going to spend any more.

"I wouldn't want to leave anyway. I'm very happy where I'm at."
