Darren Bent
Bring it on: Darren Bent sees no reason why Spurs cannot beat Manchester United if the two sides are drawn together in the semi-final

Bent ready for United

Tom Collomosse
4 Dec 2008

Darren Bent today threw down the gauntlet to Manchester United by insisting Tottenham are ready to face them in the Carling Cup semi-finals.

Bent stepped off the bench to score the winner as the Cup holders fought back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Watford last night to join United, Burnley and Derby in the last four.

Bent said: "We beat Chelsea in the final last year, so there is no reason we can't beat Man United if we get them.

"We're not looking to avoid anyone. We might as well face them head on, because if we didn't get them in the next round, we would probably get them in the final if we reached it.

"Manchester United are a fantastic side, but if we have to face them in the semis, we know what we need to do and we need to perform."

Wow Arsenal reserves! & a Chelsea team that eyes on bigger competitions. There is more chance of Gross managing Spuds next year Adrian tahn you winning. & if you were to I doubt Berba could care. May be he might if you beat him in Champs Lg - fat chance

I think supporters have short memories, we beat Arsenal Reserves, sorry battered them and played and beat Chelsea, so why not play Man Utd in the semi-final, its who wants it the most....But i would take Derby and hopefully play Man Utd in the final and beat them and see Berbatov's face!

Why risk playing Man U twice Benty? Surely it would be preferable to cruise past a weaker side to see them at Wembley?
