FA clear clubs in match-fix investigation

05.12.08

The Football Association today cleared Norwich and Derby of allegations of match-fixing.

Their Championship game, which saw 10-man Derby win 2-1 at Carrow Road on 4 October, was investigated after alleged irregular betting patterns were reported in Asian markets.

However the FA, in conjunction with the Gambling Commission, have now cleared both clubs.

An FA statement said: "We can confirm that we have closed our inquiry into reports of unusual betting patterns around the match.

Based on the information gathered, there is no evidence to suggest any irregularities around the progress or result of the game."

Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "I'm delighted the club's good name has been upheld and our reputation is intact."
