Henk: It's in our hands

9 Dec 2008

Panathinaikos coach Henk Ten Cate has told his players to grab the opportunity when they face Anorthosis Famagusta in Athens tonight, needing just a point to join Inter Milan from Group B in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Ten Cate, the former Chelsea coach who is 54 today, said: "Not many clubs have the opportunity to qualify and we shouldn't miss it. Qualification is in our hands."

The game is expected to go ahead despite two days of violence after the shooting of a 15-year-old boy by police.

If Anorthosis win, they would become the first Cypriot team to reach the knockout stage. But the team's achievements have been tempered by an embezzlement scandal that has seen the club's chairman detained for questioning before eventually being forced to step down.
