Didier Drogba
Possible return: Didier Drogba

Drogba could return

9 Dec 2008

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is considering turning to bad boy Didier Drogba to save his Champions League dream against CFR Cluj at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Drogba is back in the squad having completed a domestic three-game ban for throwing a coin at Burnley fans and could be paired with Nicolas Anelka up front for the first time this season.

The Ivory Coast international has barely played this term due to knee injuries and angered club officials after allegedly meeting with Inter Milan officials on the eve of their last Champions League game against Bordeaux.

But, with Chelsea needing a win at Stamford Bridge to progress, Scolari is prepared to forgive and forget.

He said: "When we have time to train more with these two players and I have confidence for my system with two strikers, I will use two strikers.

"So far injury has meant that is not possible. Now they are both fit, but I still must decide if the Cluj game is the right time."

Scolari has begun working on the formation in training and while Drogba is not fully match fit, Chelsea are lacking attacking options with midfielder Frank Lampard suspended - though Joe Cole and Deco could both return.
