Sterne wins the Dunhill and now you can play like a pro ...

15 Dec 2008

Richard Sterne kept his cool and parred the 18th hole to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship after a three under par 69 in yesterday's final round.

The South African birdied the par five 15th to take the lead and then held on to beat Johan Edfors (66) and Robert Rock (70) by one stroke, finishing the tournament, at Leopard Creek, Malelane, South Africa on 17-under for a total of 271.

Sterne stayed calm when he needed to on the 18th after a triple-bogey on Friday and a double-bogey on Saturday.

Now you can pick up some tips from the man who helped last year's Dunhill winner.

Leading golf guru Pete Cowan, who has worked with some of the world's top players, coached John Bickerton to success in the 2007 Dunhill Championship.

The Evening Standard has teamed up with him to offer two lucky readers a chance to benefit from the advice usually reserved for the professionals. Up for grabs are two copies of his instructional dvds, Swing Masterclass and Bunker Masterclass. We also have two sets of Pocket Shots, six handily sized instruction booklets from six top golf coaches, to give away. Pocket Shots covers six different areas of the game, swing, bunkers, mental game, fitness, short game and putting. For a chance to win, visit: www.standard.co.uk/rewards. If you are not registered as an Eros Card holder you will need to sign up to enter. Registration is free. One online entry per household. Tickets not for resale. Promotion closes at 23.59 on 15 December. Usual rules apply.
