Parkinson is eyeing lift-off for Charlton

Phil Parkinson knows rock-bottom Charlton need a victory over Derby tonight to stop their slide towards League One.

The caretaker-manager has the task of reducing a gap of five points in order to lead his side to safety.

Parkinson said: "You don't want to get too far adrift but there are still 72 points to play for. So there's a large proportion of the season left to turn our plight around."

Watford made it back-to-back wins, thanks to the 2-1 success over Coventry.

Midfielder Lee Williamson admits trouble behind the scenes, which has seen the chairman and chief executive depart, play on the mind.

He said: "We hear things but everyone has dealt with it well and we have to put it behind us."

Queens Park Rangers are looking better on the road after Heidar Helguson netted in the draw at Plymouth. "It was pleasing to see Heidar score," manager Paulo Sousa said. "It will boost his confidence."

Crystal Palace beat Doncaster 2-1 and Neil Warnock is now eyeing next week's encounter with his former club Sheffield United.

"I told the lads they will enjoy next week. It will be a great game in Sheffield," he said.
