Knuckling down: Nick Evans

No loafing, says Nick

Nick Evans has told Harlequins' buoyant players to forget about their back-to-back Heineken Cup wins over Stade Francais and knuckle back down to Premiership business.

Dean Richards' men travel to Franklins Gardens tomorrow to take on Northampton still buzzing from the Evans-inspired wins over the French giants.

But the former All Black fly-half, who will go head to head with compatriot Carlos Spencer, insists the west London outfit need to take care of their bread and butter fixtures.

“We can't rest on our laurels,” Evans said. “It will be disappointing if we back up these two performances with a loss. We are fifth in the Premiership and to get back in the top four we need to win games like Northampton.

“Carlos is a talented player. When I first made the All Blacks squad him and Andrew Mehrtens were there. I took a lot from his game and tried to implement it in my own.

“It is going to be tough.”

Richards' team appears to have taken a massive stride forward this season with the side built around Evans at 10 along with scrum-half Danny Care and number eight Nick Easter.
