Jones wary of Wasps

Eddie Jones has warned his Saracens team to beware of wounded Wasps when the two sides meet at Adams Park tomorrow.

The defending Guinness Premiership champions have struggled on and off the pitch this season as distractions over contracts combined with dismal playing form have left them languishing near the foot of the table.

But Jones, whose team has not beaten Wasps on the road in 11 years, says don't write Ian McGeechan's team off.

“Wasps have been the benchmark of European rugby now for a long time,” said the Saracens director of rugby.

“Just look at their pack. They have at least five in the England pack and then they've got Cipriani, Flutey and Sackey. They probably have more England players than any other English side. You'd expect them to be very passionate and very committed this weekend because in their position they have to win.”

Former Wallaby coach Jones has had a solid if unspectacular start to his tenure at Vicarage Road after taking over from Alan Gaffney.

His side lie seventh in the table, seven points off the top, and have been buoyed by two wins over Bayonne in the European Challenge Cup.
