Collins urges Hammers to keep Bellamy

James Collins has urged West Ham not to cash in on Craig Bellamy in the January transfer window after the striker was linked with a £12m switch to Tottenham.

West Ham's owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson has growing financial concerns following the collapse of Landsbanki, the Icelandic bank in which he was the main shareholder, and the Icelander has since put the club up for sale.

Wales international Bellamy is wanted by Spurs and West Ham could be tempted to get the 29-year-old off their wage bill.

But defender Collins said: "You've got to hang on to players like Craig if you want to progress. I am sure everyone at the club will same thing because he is a great lad to have around."

If the club decides to sell players like Bellamy,Parker,Upson etc i have no doubt they will get good money, but doing this will cost the club their status in the premiership....and at what financial cost will that be!!
We have a good honest manager, a brilliant 1st team coach in Steve clarke and if the players were sold i can see the both of them leaving the club. The board should look at the big picture and hang on to these players and maybe ditch a few of the fringe players to lower the costs. The team will progress, but only if we hang on to our "influencial" players
