Six Nations green light for Armitage after scan on foot

England team manager Martin Johnson was today given some much needed good news with confirmation that exciting fullback Delon Armitage will be available for the Six Nations.

The London Irish star was one of the few England players to make an impact during the November internationals.

Since making his debut last autumn, Armitage has been troubled by a foot injury but a scan has now revealed the problem is not serious.

Toby Booth, the Irish director of rugby, has opted not to play Armitage when his table toppers travel to Sale on Friday to give him time to recover.

Johnson will need Armitage at No15 in the Six Nations and his imminent return to action is the first piece of good news he has had this week.

The coach had to rule flanker Tom Rees out of the opening two Championship games after he suffered knee ligament damage playing for Wasps.
