Anne Keothavong reached the second round of the Moorilla International in Hobart today.

The Hackney-born British women's No1, who last week just missed out on reaching her first WTA tour final in Auckland, saw off Hungary's fifth-seeded Agnes Szavay 6-3, 7-5.

The 25-year-old, now ranked 53 in the world, heads to next week's Australian Open insisting: "This game is played between the ears.

"My confidence levels cannot be compared to what they once were - there are no doubts now. It's about feeling you belong and I do."

British men's No1 Andy Murray heads to Melbourne as the first British player to be made pre-tournament favourite to win the first Grand Slam of the year, which starts on 19 January.

After winning the World Championship in Abu Dhabi and defending the Qatar Open title by beating Andy Roddick on Saturday, he said: "I think I'm getting close to playing my best tennis but I still think that could be a year or so away."
