Drogba and Deco pay price for United humiliation

Didier Drogba and Deco have paid the price for Sunday's defeat at Manchester United as both are expected to be dropped for tonight's FA Cup replay at Southend.

Drogba won't even be on the bench for the match at Roots Hall after boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was left disgusted by his effort in the 3-0 loss at United.

The Ivory Coast international, who Chelsea would consider selling now if a good bid came in, has scored just three goals and also brought more bad publicity on the club when he threw a coin at Burnley fans during a Carling Cup tie.

Scolari complained yesterday that some of his squad have only been playing at 35 per cent of their potential in the last five games. He said: “If I have given players only one chance then maybe some of them will complain they have only had one opportunity.”

Deco's omission is a surprise as Scolari brought him to the club in the summer but the midfielder has looked ineffective since returning following a hip injury in October.

When Chelsea lose it is Drogba fault. Why these pundits can not tell the truth. Why he has to be blamed for a collective mistake. Drogba has been let down by the fans and the club after CL final. If John Terry who is earning £150 k can not score a penalty and defend set pieces stop why do you have to find a scapegoat. Lampard was pushing for more noney no one says he does not like Chelsea. The truth is Drogba is the most important player at Chelsea because he makes Chelsea tick not JT and Lampard. He deserve praise and encouragement.

when drogba wants to play he tracks back, defends, wins the ball and terrorises defences....the problem is its only when he wants. whenever drogba plays well so does the team. so come didier be a man and do what your best at, on your day no one can touch you. you are idolised at the bridge, dont throw it away in a fit of temper, you are better than that, plus you will never get the same adulation any where else, the grass is not always greener on the other side.....

You must be watching too many gaelic games Paddy. Rooney is everything Drogba's not. A tireless runner with great skills and a fantastic will to win, thats something you couldn't say about two thirds of the Chelsea team.

Rico, you can have him.

£50m should cover it.

We Chelsea fans must not forget Drogba's contribution in giving us 2 Premiership titles, 2 Carling Cups and the FA Cup in 3 short years.

Don't compare Drogba with Rooney. Rooney's work ethic and commitment to the team even when he is not scoring is amazing. He is also versatile, which is why he combines with any or all of Tevez, Ronaldo or Berbatov.

Good riddance! He had one break out season and is as over rated as Wayne Rooney. Chelsea need to play Anelka up front every game with support on the flanks. Malouda is another player that should be sold and Deco's form has been below par for quite some time now. Out with the old and in with the new.
