Sousa stays positive

Paolo Sousa is banking on his positive attitude to help Queen's Park Rangers overcome their FA heartbreak and return to winning ways in the Championship.

Rangers saw a possible fourth-round trip to Premier League West Brom snatched from their grasp thanks to Jay Rodriguez's late extra-time winner for Burnley at Turf Moor.

Rangers had taken the lead 10 minutes after the break thanks to Samuel Di Carmine's calm finish, his first goal in three months.

The home side hit back to equalise six minutes later through Steven Thompson before substitute Rodriguez plundered the winning goal following Damion Stewart's defensive mistake just 40 seconds from a penalty shoot-out.

Despite the manner of his side's defeat, Sousa remains upbeat and has set about the challenge of lifting his players ahead of successive away games to Derby and then Blackpool.

He said: "I felt that we did well and wanted to win the game. Playing in that way, like we did, then it's very disappointing to lose and also unfair.

"I thought we dominated the game tactically and created a lot of good chances. I am proud of the team because I thought we did so well."

"If we keep playing like this, especially away from home, then I'm confident the positive results will come our way."
