Megson turns his back on a move for Bullard

Bolton have ended their bid for Jimmy Bullard after failing to meet Fulham's £6million price tag.

Gary Megson was only willing to pay £5m for the 29-year-old midfielder, who has been unable to agree a new deal at his club.

The Bolton manager said: "Loads of agents have been offering him. Players are supposed to have one agent and I've had five now saying they represent Jimmy Bullard.

"I spoke to [Fulham chief executive] Alistair Mackintosh and got it from the horse's mouth what the position was.

"I mentioned a figure and he said it wouldn't be acceptable -- so we move on. There was no point on going any further because there was no common ground."

Megson has also ended his interest in Brazilian World Cup winner Denilson, who is a free agent after leaving Palmeiras.

"There are parts of his game that we didn't feel we would be able to use to our advantage and would be able to complement everyone else," said Megson.
