Leyton Orient aim to appoint a new manager within a fortnight after Martin Ling was shown the exit door at Brisbane Road.

A 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers proved to be the final straw as the club's board decided to part company with Ling and his assistant manager Dean Smith.

"This was the hardest decision I have had to make in 14 years as chairman," said Barry Hearn. "We need to preserve our League One status and this season has not been good enough."

Millwall sit third in the division after a 1-0 win over Tranmere.

Marc Laird scored the winner but it is debutant Izale McLeod that boss Kenny Jackett is backing to fire up their promotion bid. "He changes the dynamics of the team with his pace," said Jackett.

Brentford rescued a point in the final minute against Notts County as Mark Phillips kept them in League Two's second spot. But Nathan Elder faces a ban after he was sent off in the first-half by referee Stuart Attwell for an elbow.

Barnet and Dagenham drew 1-1 as Mark Nwokeji cancelled out John O'Flynn's opener for the Bees.
