De la Hoya's family tell him to quit fighting
21 Jan 2009Oscar de La Hoya is still undecided about whether to return to the boxing ring even though his family are pleading with him to retire.
The 35-year-old 10time world champion was dismantled over eight rounds by Manny Pacquiao at welterweight in Las Vegas last December.
Before the fight it was thought Pacquiao was too small to offer a genuine threat but he made the American look a spent force.
De la Hoya said: "My family and my wife tell me 'Enough! Accept it. That's it. You don't have it no more'.
"However, I really haven't made a decision. I've been thinking about that, I've been going back and forth and everybody and their mother is telling me to hang them up, but I have to be certain."
