Hear this: John O’Shea says that with a bit of luck his side can win four trophies

O'Shea is chasing the Quadruple

John O'Shea has backed Manchester United to go one better than their 1999 Treble-winning season by claiming all four major trophies on offer this season.

The first stage of an unprecedented Quadruple could come against Tottenham in the Carling Cup Final on 1 March.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp appeared to further boost United's hopes by vowing to field as weak a side as possible when the two sides contest Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round clash at Old Trafford.

And O'Shea said: "We're in one final, top of the Premier League and have got the fourth round of the FA Cup at home coming up. We want to win all four trophies but we will need some luck. It is something that you hope for at the start of the season and there is confidence that these four trophies are up for grabs.

"If we can get our injured players back by the time the Champions League starts up again, then we can dream about it."

United have used their second string in the Carling Cup to date, with manager Sir Alex Ferguson insisting the same players will play at Wembley.

One of those to benefit is midfielder Darron Gibson, who claims his run in the Cup side is helping him develop the belief he can forge a career with the European and Premier League champions.

"It's unbelievable," he said. "I see players like Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick on the bench and there's no better feeling. It's good that the boss is keeping faith with me and putting me in there."

John, The only reason you are in the United team is you are no more than average in several positions.
