Testting times: Portsmouth have struggled since Harry Redknapp left the club

Adams vows to get Pompey winning again

27 Jan 2009

Tony Adams has called for the Portsmouth board to show some patience as the club strive to move away from the drop zone.

Adams has collected only two Premier League wins from his opening 13 matches and his side were booed off following a humbling FA Cup defeat by Swansea at Fratton Park.

Owner Alexandre Gaydamak has backed Adams in the transfer window with the acquisitions of Nadir Belhadj and Hayden Mullins at a total cost of around £6million.

Adams, however, remains under pressure ahead of tonight's match with Aston Villa and said: "I am not going to run away from anything. My wife may want me at home but I will be out there trying to win matches for Portsmouth."

When Pompey's manager left in September, I was the first one who hoped that Tony Adams gets the job, but now I am starting to believe I was wrong. I hope that Adams stays on the bench, but I also hope that Pompey will start looking that are going to survive the drop in the next couple of games. Adams can make it work, but he needs time. All we hope is Premier league football next season!!
