Laura Robson subjected herself to an ice bath to aid her recovery after moving into the girls' third round today.

The Wimbledon girls' champion defeated Thailand's Kanyapat Narattana 6-3, 7-6 on a baking Court 21 and then prepared for a doubles match by taking on board " lots and lots of water."

Robson struggled to maintain her concentration in the heat during the second set and fell 5-1 behind before regaining her poise and hitting power to force a tie-break, which she won 7-0.

The tie-break showed just how effective the fifth seed can be on hard courts and she said: "I haven't set any targets for this tournament and I needed to refocus when I was trailing in the second set and thankfully was able to do that.

"It's going to get hotter here and my coach is forcing me to drink lots and lots of water to keep hydrated and then there is going to be an ice bath after the doubles which I am sure I am going to enjoy!"

Robson has a new fan in Grand Slam champion Serena Williams who came over and talked to the 14-year-old Briton in the players' area. Robson, who lives in Wimbledon, said: "She came over and asked who I was with here in Melbourne and I said my coach. I could only give one word answers because I was so nervous and I forgot to ask for her autograph."
