28 Jan 2009

The Evening Standard School's 1st XV Super League has a new leader following January's cup games.

Caterham move top after beating The King's School, Ely 53-3 in round five of the vase and Hurstpierpoint College 40-0 in round six.

The biggest performance of the month came from St. Benedicts, Ealing who defeated Whitgift 20-16 in round six of the cup. They move into nineteenth, ahead of RGS High Wycombe who slip to twentieth following their defeat by Truro College at the same stage.

John Fisher have won three important post-Christmas matches, beating Hampton School 37-5, Worthing College 33-7 in round six of the cup, then Tiffin School 47-6 last Saturday. Hampton School bounced back well to defeat eighth placed Cranbrook 20-0 in the vase.

Next week the Team of the Month for January will be announced. If you believe your school is a worthy winner please nominate your side by e-mailing schoolsrugby@standard.co.uk. Remember it is based on improvement as much as achievement.
