Albion appeal over red card for Robinson

28 Jan 2009

West Brom today appealed against the red card Paul Robinson received in the 5-0 defeat by Manchester United.

Albion were trailing 1-0 when referee Rob Styles dismissed the defender for serious foul play for a challenge on Ji‑Sung Park. Robinson appeared to get the ball and he will hope that the Football Association overturn the three‑match ban when they study the evidence tomorrow.

United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar set a double Premier League record at The Hawthorns last night.

Van der Sar surpassed Chelsea No1 Petr Cech's record of 1,025 minutes without conceding a goal for the Blues during the 2004-2005 campaign.
And he also set a record of 11 successive clean sheets, overtaking the tally set by Chelsea during the same season.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: “The defensive record is fantastic and it is down to the experience we have at the back.”
