D-day for Ivanovic in talks over future

Branislav Ivanovic will discover today if Chelsea will allow him to complete a move to Fiorentina.

His agent Vlado Borozan claims that the defender has already agreed a five-year contract with the Italian club and is just waiting for Chelsea to ratify the deal.

Ivanovic has made just six starts in the League since joining from Lokomtiv Moscow for £9million last January.

Fiorentina are prepared to offer Manuel da Costa, given his Portugal debut by Luiz Felipe Scolari, as part of the deal.

Borozan said: "The deal is at a decisive phase and today we will know how it will finish. My partner [Marko Naletilic] will be in London to talk further with Chelsea. We have already reached an agreement in principle with Fiorentina for a five-year contract."

However, Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino fears the deal will fall through because of Ricardo Carvalho's injury problems and they may have to wait until the summer.

Carvalho is set to be ruled out for another week with a hamstring strain, which has troubled him since October.

Meanwhile, striker Nicolas Anelka today admitted it will be a disaster if Chelsea don't win at Liverpool on Sunday.

He said: "We are going there to win. To not do so would be a disaster afterwards. By taking only a point, both teams would let Manchester United fly off."
