Booth ready to learn lessons of Exiles' video nasty

Toby Booth will today finally watch the video nasty of London Irish's 23-21 defeat at Gloucester which cost his team the leadership of the Guinness Premiership and raised questions about their title credentials.

Booth couldn't bring himself to ruin Sunday by reliving the mistakes that saw his team concede an 18-3 lead at Kingsholm to a Gloucester side that appeared bereft of ideas and attacking threats.

Olly Barkley's boot allowed Gloucester to get back into the match and a frantic finish saw the home side leapfrog Irish into first place but it is the technical offences which referee Dave Pearson decided Irish had conceded that irritate Booth.

The Exiles boss said: "We kicked more poorly than they did in the second half and the penalty count was very one sided. I really couldn't bring myself to review the video yesterday and what's really disappointing is that we didn't control our own play. We have to learn these lessons quickly if we want to progress and earn the right to play in the big end of season games."

Harlequins 27-6 home win over Northampton was an encouraging result in terms of their chase of a top-four finish.

England wing Dave Strettle made his return to action from a broken bone in his foot and there was considerable relief when he reported a leg injury was merely the result of a clash of knees.
