McCoy out of luck in record chase

5 Feb 2009

Tony McCoy today failed in his bid to close on his 3,000th career win over jumps after pulling up on Adare Prince in his only ride at Taunton.

The champion, who needs two victories to make history, had replaced Richard Johnson in the handicap chase after being switched from the abandoned Huntingdon meeting.

McCoy will hope to reach the landmark number tomorrow at Bangor, which is subject to an early morning inspection.
