Quins coach hails defence
16 Feb 2009Brian McDermott has challenged his Harlequins squad to maintain their commitment in the wake of their 12-8 victory at Castleford.
Luke Dorn grabbed both tries on his Quins return after two years away, but McDermott was most impressed with his side's attitude in defence during their Super League opener.
Coach McDermott said: "It doesn't surprise me that we've scrambled like anything. I'll be beaming with pride if we're still like that in round 10 and still showing that backbone.
"Whether we win or lose I'm not that interested - it's whether we've got that backbone. That's how you want to start your season and I think that yesterday reaffirmed a lot of what we've been focusing on."
