Lewis Hamilton may have a woman rival in Formula One next year, writes David Smith.
It was revealed today that IndyCar race winner Danica Patrick is in contention for a place with the new American Grand Prix team, USF1, which will take to the grid next year.
USF1's Ken Anderson confirmed: "We'd certainly love to test her. She's great. She gets a lot of press."
Patrick, 26 and a former high school cheerleader, was named 2005 Rookie of the Year in both Indy 500 and IndyCar. Last April, in the Japan 300, she became the first woman to take the chequered flag in an IndyCar event.
The last woman to compete in F1 was Italy's Giovanna Amati who entered three Grand Prixs in 1992.

I'm now looking forward to her arrival. We can look forward to similar levels of action as when Andrea De Crasharis was racing in the '80s.
