Taylor: I'm so happy to see Eduardo back

Ian Winrow
18 Feb 2009

Martin Taylor has revealed his relief at Eduardo's goal-scoring comeback in Arsenal's FA Cup replay victory over Cardiff on Monday, writes Ian Winrow.

The Birmingham defender was responsible for the tackle that broke the Croatian striker's leg and kept him sidelined for a year.

Taylor - who admitted he received death threats after the incident - said: "I kept updated throughout the game and then went on a website to see what average marks he had been given.

"Normally they are sixes and sevens. His was about 9.7. He must have done well. It's a relief to see him back playing. I know in my heart of hearts it was an accident."

Eduardo, however, said today that Taylor has still not phoned him to apologise. He said: "Some friends told me he was saying he'd spoken to me - but he never did."

We arsenal fans do not want to hear anything taylor has to say - he is a mouse not a man. If I had done the damage he has done i would be so ashamed of myself.

A 5th rate defender with a 5th rate character

who cares what taylor thinks. nothing can change what he did to eduardo. and that he has not bothered to contact eduardo over the last year says everything about taylor.

He nearly ruined the life of a young player and Eduardo was in pain for a year for not being able to play football
These things happen but TAYLOR is a bad example of what a person should do.
He should have gone immediately to see Eduardo in private and express his sorrow and show solidarity with the player. It does not cost money.

Its amazing how Martin Taylor can say he is glad to see Eduardo back playing again but never went physically to see or talk to Eduardo since the horror tackle a whole year ago.Yes he maybe saw him when he was being operated on and the poor fellow was out of it at the time but surely you go and say sorry even as a professional or as a courtesy or as a man ...clearly Martin and his club have no regard for the sport or the person, it was just another tackle.I heard people at the time were calling for martin to be banned for life, then i thought that was too strong but seeing how eduardo was treated even now maybe that was not such a bad idea ....martin i hope you never brake your leg on the pitch sir.
