Derry is banking on a win bonus

Shaun Derry hopes Crystal Palace's comfortable 3-1 triumph over Plymouth will help the club attract new players.

Eagles manager Neil Warnock suffered a series of frustrating setbacks in the transfer window.

But Derry believes last night's performance - which left Palace eight points behind sixth-placed Sheffield United with two games in hand - will convince possible loan signings of the team's potential.

The midfielder said: "The loan market is open once again, so for us to attract the better players we need to be in a position where those players will look at us and think we can achieve something.

"To get three points give us that bonus of maybe being able to attract players to the club in the future."

First-half goals from Neil Danns, Alan Lee and John Oster sealed the win before the visitors hit back through Gary Sawyer.

Derry added: "This was a massive win which sends out a message to the rest of the league."

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett fears his side have lost their cutting edge at a crucial stage.

The Lions salvaged a 1-1 draw against Swindon thanks to an added-time winner from on-loan James Henry.

Jackett said: "We got some excellent balls into the box but had nothing on the end of them. We need to do more in front of goal."

Dagenham blew a chance to move into the League Two play-off zone after being beaten 1-0 at home by Wycombe, who moved level on points with leaders Brentford.
