Back of the net: John Carew scored in Aston Villa's Uefa cup tie against CSKA Moscow

Chelsea don't scare us, insists Villa's Euro star Carew ahead of showdown

Aston Villa striker John Carew believes his side have nothing to fear when they take on Chelsea at home this Saturday.

New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink was at Villa Park last night, along with owner Roman Abramovich, to see Carew score the equaliser in Aston Villa's 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Cup.

Aston Villa are two points above Chelsea in third place in the Premier League and know that a win will make them strong favourites to secure a place in the Champions League next season.

Carew doesn't see the arrival of Hiddink at Stamford Bridge as anything to worry about and said: "We are above them in the league and that means we have been better than them this season.

"We deserve to be there and we have nothing to fear against Chelsea at all. They have a team full of stars but we have shown that we have a number of good players ourselves."

The score-line flattered the Russian side, with Villa having most of the chances and Ashley Young looking particularly threatening.

Brazilian striker Vagner Love put the visitors ahead in the 14th minute before Young helped engineer the equaliser 21 minutes from time.

The England international's fine cross found Craig Gardner who turned the ball back to Carew to apply the finish.

Villa have now played two games since Chelsea beat Watford on Saturday but defender Curtis Davies insists they won't be using fatigue as an excuse.

He added: "We won't get much time to recover for Chelsea but if you want to be successful then this is what happens. It's a shame Chelsea couldn't have had their Champions League game this week rather than next but we will be fired up for the match."

Well he's right there, Chelsea haven't won a game at Villa park in 10 years...So I'd have to agree, yes Villa have nothing to fear...But the onus is on them to keep the record..
