Flattered: Jermaine Jenas was tempted by a move to Internazionale

Jenas: I was in turmoil but it's good to be back

Jermaine Jenas has admitted being left in limbo over his Tottenham future during the January transfer window.

Inter Milan expressed an interest in the England midfielder last month but no deal materialised.

Jenas was an automatic choice in midfield before manager Harry Redknapp took over last October, but he no longer enjoys that status and the £14million signing of Wilson Palacios h as pushed him further down the pecking order.

Speaking after he captained a weakened Spurs side to a 2-0 UEFA Cup defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk, Jenas said: "I was very flattered when I heard about Inter Milan. If a club like Inter take an interest in you, you will always take notice. It is good for confidence.

"I will be honest: I did not know where I was at one point during the transfer window. But I spoke to the manager, who said he wanted me to stay, and that is where we are at the moment.

"The manager knows what I am capable of, and it was good to be back in the team against Shakhtar.

"I was also happy to be back in the side for the 0-0 draw against Arsenal, and hopefully there are more games to come."

Palacios was left in London along with a number of other key players for the last-32 tie, and the Honduran is expected to return in central midfield in the Premier League fixture at Hull on Monday, meaning Jenas may lose his place once more.
